When Pontiac decided to put the 389 V8 from their full-size cars into the mid-size LeMans for 1964, they fired the opening salvo of a horsepower war. Hoping to sell 5000 units, Pontiac executives were stunned to discover that they had sold 32,450 cars by year’s end and inadvertently started the muscle car craze. This spawned many desirable automobiles, but the GTO’s are fondly remembered as some of the best-looking street warriors ever produced. This stunning Gulf Turquoise (K-2) 1967 GTO perfectly illustrates this point from any angle. Now for the fun part. Lift the aggressive hood and you’ll find a thunderous 461 ci Pontiac V8 that’s been fortified with Kauffman Racing Equipment aluminum heads, a Holley Sniper fuel injection system, Edelbrock Performer Pontiac aluminum intake manifold, long tube headers, an aluminum Be Cool radiator, and an aluminum water pump. Additional features include power steering, power front disc brakes, air conditioning, correct TH400 automatic transmission with Dual-Gate shifter and console, correct paint and trim, AM/FM stereo, wood-rimmed wheel, dual exhaust with H-pipe and electric cutouts, and Red Stripe 205/70R14 tires wrapped around PMD Rally II wheels.
